Finances - Day 19

The Money Myth:

Those are myths; here is the Truth:

High income can be helpful, but only if you have healthy money habits.

My husband and I started our debt-free journey on a 30k salary, and we steadily built our income little by little throughout the 7-year process. The majority of the time, we made under 100k per year.

But you need to borrow money! Really? That's not true. We got serious about our debt in 2010 and did not take on any debt after that point. We paid our debt in full in 2017 and never looked back except for our first home. We have not taken on a cent of debt. We plan to pay off our home in 7-10 years and buy our next home in cash. Reasonable mortgages are the only debt that makes sense to me.

Credit score? What credit score!? I never had a great credit score. It was always average to below average. Once we started getting our money in control and paying off debt, it got better. Once the debt was gone, my score dropped to Undeterminable or zero. A Zero score is a perfect score. I had a zero credit score when we bought our house, and our loan was considered a jumbo loan because of the price. We only put 5% down because we wanted to renovate in cash. They are lying if someone tells you you need a credit score to buy a home. You need a new mortgage broker.

This is my story. It can be yours too!
